‘Bharat Ratna’, the highest civilian award of India, was instituted in the year 1954.
Any person without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex is eligible for these awards.
It is awarded for exceptional service towards advancement of Art, Literature and Science, and in recognition of public service of the highest order.

Puttaraju gawai done social service in highst order and also he is musician. Tendulkar is god of cricket. He is legend and beyond. In 2009 and 2010 no one recieved the Bharathrathna award both these two to eligible to recieve.

I have seen comments from lot of people that Sachin should get Bharath Ratna.
If Sachin deserves Bharath Ratna definitely Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar also deserves. If we understand cricket correctly numbers is not the measurement of the constribution. Above said players are as good as Sachin and equally contributed to the teams cause.
